The Cincinnati Pops Superhero characters are the co-creation of Cincinnati Pops Orchestra conductor John Morris Russell and myself. The occasion was the 2013 Cincinnati Pops “Superheroes!” concert, a program of superhero themes from movies and television (see the track listing on the CD cover after the jump!) and the subsequent CD recording of that concert.
I created the character designs of Conduktor and his sidekick Rubáto, as well as his nemeses, Purrfect Pitch and Otto Tüün, and later illustrated the CD cover.
I’m thrilled that Superheroes! is getting a return engagement via the Cincinnati Pops at Taft Theater in Cincinnati this Saturday, June 10! JMR and I will be signing programs and meeting concert goers. Don’t miss it!
